NASA podcasts lead science and space programs in 2024 Spotify Wrapped

NASA's audio storytelling draws large significant interest on Spotfiy playlists.

TEMPLE, Texas — NASA's exploration into digital storytelling is producing as much explosion as a rocket launch.

Offering podcasts centered on science and space exploration, NASA proved they can excel in the digital universe. Spotify Wrapped revealed that NASA's shows ranked first in listeners looking for space and science content, and programs spent 37 weeks in Spotify's top charts for science podcasts in 2024.

"NASA's Curious Universe" was the highest streamed podcast while "A Year in Mars Dune Alpha" was the most popular episode.

“We’re thrilled to have our space-centric content featured in Spotify Wrapped 2024,” said NASA Director of Digital Communications Brittany Brown. “Our collaboration with Spotify is a testament to NASA’s commitment to producing innovative and engaging content. We’re excited to see how audiences continue to respond to this unique listening experience only NASA can provide.”

Podcasts feature a range of topics, bringing a diverse portfolio of material to space science and technology enthusiasts.

NASA said shows include "conversations with NASA astronauts, stories that take audiences on a tour of the galaxy and Spanish-language content."

“Music, just like space, connects us all,” NASA audio specialist Katie Konans said. “Our partnership with Spotify has allowed NASA to share the wonder and excitement of space with music and podcast lovers globally. This year, we’re thrilled to take this connection to new heights by bringing the Spotify Wrapped 2024 conversation beyond planet Earth.”

Beginning in 2023, NASA offered podcasts on Spotify. Fans of the podcasts and anyone else interested can find NASA programs on Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.
