WACO, Texas — Football season might be up in the air but locally, there's one team that is about to get the season started.
Eddie Daniels is the Co-Owner and Head Football Coach of the Waco Tornadoes, the newest indoor football team in Central Texas.
"We'll probably be one of the only teams in this area to probably play in two leagues and it's just going to be a long season," Daniels said.
The Tornadoes plan to start out in the Texas Alliance Indoor League. When the season is finished, the Tornadoes will then move to the Elite Indoor League, which features teams from San Antonio, Louisiana and Mississippi.
"We'll be playing arena football for six, seven months straight," Daniels said. "Which is kind of unheard of."
The team has already signed a few players who used to play for the Temple Demons last season. Daniels said they are still searching for more players, especially local talent.
"We're trying to give the people who grew up here, that are athletes and want to continue to play," Daniels said. "The opportunity to be part of something we are bringing here first."
Playing football at any level comes with a price. The Tornadoes are looking for any local businesses that would be willing to sponsor the team throughout the season.
"We definitely need sponsors. Definitely need sponsors to take the financial load off me and Rico and what we are trying to do for these guys here," Daniels said.
