TEMPLE, Texas — WACO GETS A TASTE OF THE CHAMPIONS!

In today’s Morning Playbook, the reigning World Series champions, Texas Rangers, made a stop in Waco!

The Texas Sports Hall of Fame recognized the team during a luncheon held yesterday afternoon.

The Rangers received a key to the city of Waco, and were honored with their own exhibit for winning the first championship in the franchise's 63 years.

MIKE MCCARTHY STAYS IN DALLAS

Meanwhile, the other team in Arlington, the Dallas Cowboys announced Mike McCarthy will stay as head coach for the next season.

Many fans had already shared their frustration with McCarthy following the surprising Wild Card round loss to the Packers, but Jerry Jones said he’s the man for the job.

“I believe this team is very close and capable of achieving our ultimate goals and the best step forward for us will be with Mike McCarthy as our head coach," said Jones in a statement.

“HORNS DOWN” CONTROVERSY

It has been a long-held tradition for teams to throw their “horns down" gesture when they beat the Texas Longhorns.

However, men’s basketball head coach, Rodney Terry appeared to dislike it, as he told UCF players to stop doing the gesture following their win last night against Texas.

"You don't  get into the handshake line and have about 6 or 7 guys putting horns down," said Terry after the game. “We don't do that, you know, because when you do those kinds of things, it looks very classless."
