The superstar behind the recruiting photo edits

Hayes Fawcett creates magic from the tips of his fingers.

WACO, Texas — The influence of social media has revolutionized the way high school athletes announce their college commitment. For Kinder, Louisiana native Hayes Fawcett, his unique touch for photo editing has him rubbing elbows with the biggest recruits in the nation.

Whether it's a four-star player posting his Top six or the No. one wide receiver in the nation committing to Oklahoma, Fawcett has become a photo edit guru.

"I think they want to catch something to catch the eye of the people and my edits have a little pop to them,"  Fawcett said.

Since the age of 11, Fawcett has had a knack for making photo edits. After he made edits of professional athletes, current Redskins running back and former five-star prospect Derrius Guice took notice and reached out to Fawcett.

"He went and played in the Army All-American game," Fawcett said. "He won the MVP and that whole week, he was using my stuff. I guess all of the other All-Americans saw the work he was putting out from me and they started to text me. I started to notice how much this was needed from other recruits so then I started doing what I do and from there, it's taken off."

Some of the biggest names in high school football have let Fawcett do their photo edits. Players like Dwayne Haskins, Chase Young and Trevor Lawrence have all worked and earned the trust of Hayes.

"I've started to build a reputation for doing this," Fawcett said. "I knew that if I kind of spoiled their decision, then it would be a bad look on me and I wouldn't be able to do what I do. Just kind of from the start, I've known that if I mess up one time, I wouldn't be able to continue doing what I do."

Fawcett charges anywhere from $10 to $20 for 3-star recruits and under. He doesn't charge for four and five-star recruits because of the national notoriety the player and Hayes will receive on social media.

Fawcett said he did edits for about 95 percent of the first-round picks in this year's NFL draft.

"I do all of it on my phone. However, I'm kind of starting to learn how to do it on my computer, which is a lot more complex," Fawcett said. "I can do more on my computer but I've pretty much mastered it everything that I have posted on my phone."

Fawcett has caught the attention of LSU Head Football Coach Ed Orgeron. The Tigers have offered a student-worker position on LSU's recruiting staff under Coach Orgeron. Which to Fawcett, is a dream come true.

"When the head coach of your favorite college calls you, it blew my mind away and I knew right then and there I had to take this opportunity," Fawcett said.
