NFL trade deadline tracker: All the biggest trades of the day

Familiar faces land is new places as the NFL trade deadline comes to a close.

TEMPLE, Texas — The NFL trade deadline has came and went, and some big names found themselves on new teams as organizations have now solidified their identities going forward this season. A list of the biggest moves made today can be found below:

CB Marson Lattimore (Commanders)

In perhaps the biggest trade of the day, The Commanders acquired Lattimore from the struggling Saints to bolter their weak defensive back room. The move signals that Washington is all-in at 7-2 after the emergence of their standout rookie QB Jayden Daniels. The Commanders gave up a third-round-pick, fourth-round-pick and a sixth-round pick in exchange for Lattimore and a fifth-round-pick.

WR Mike Williams (Steelers)

With the Jets' trade of Davante Adams a few weeks ago, there were less targets to go around in the New York receiving room, making Williams the odd man out. The Steelers give up a fifth-round-pick to bolster their WRs and to give Russell Wilson some help alongside George Pickens.

WR Jonathan Mingo (Cowboys)

After dropping their third game in a row, the Cowboys are desperately trying to save their season after QB Dak Prescott is likely to be placed on injured reserve. Dallas gives up a fourth-round-pick for Mingo and a seventh-round-pick in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

DE  Preston Smith (Steelers)

The Steelers added both an offensive and defensive player at the deadline this year, trading for Smith from the Packers for a seventh-round pick. Smith will bolster Pittsburgh's pass rush alongside TJ Watt and shows that the Steelers are serious about making a playoff push in the AFC.

RB Khalil Herbert (Bengals)

After losing RB Zack Moss to injured reserve, The Bengals went and traded for Herbert from Chicago for a seventh-round-pick. Chicago's backfield was crowded with both D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson taking a majority of the carries, making him available. Herbert will compliment primary RB Chase Brown and will likely see most of his snaps in short-yardage situations.

DE Za'Darius Smith (Lions)

After the tragic injury to star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson, the Lions went and got Smith and a seventh-round-pick from the Browns in exchange for a fifth-round-pick and a sixth-round-pick. Smith has five sacks on the year and proves Detroit is serious about its Super Bowl hopes.
