TEMPLE, Texas — BYU UPSETS BAYLOR
In today’s Morning Playbook, it was not the night for the number 11 Bears in Provo.
Number 25 BYU quickly matched early momentum by Baylor, they went up by 5 in the first half.
The Bears were trailing in the second, but tried to hang in there in the last stretch. BYU pulls off the upset, 78 to 71.
Up next is number 2 Houston at the Foster on Saturday.
LA VEGA MOVES ON IN THE PLAYOFFS
At the high school level, reigning state champs La Vega are on the right path to get another state title.
The Pirates put on a show in Killeen against Burnet. They win the game 72 to 41, and punch their ticket to the regional semi-finals.
BAYLOR BASEBALL GETS FIRST WIN
The first home game of the season for the Bears was a good one.
Baylor was coming off a rough opening weekend at Globe Field, but senior outfielder Hunter Simmons said hold my bat, and hit a grand slam in the bottom of the first.

NEW COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF FORMAT
Big news in college football, the playoff board approved the format for the new 12-team playoffs set to begin next season.
It will be a 5-plus-7 model, meaning the five-highest ranked conference champions will automatically secure a spot.Then, the remaining seven-highest ranked teams will get a spot.
The four highest ranked conference champs will alsol get a first-round bye.
