MCGREGOR, Texas — McGregor head football coach and Athletic Director Judd Thrash has been placed on paid leave, pending an investigation from McGregor Independent School District, according to Thrash's attorney.
On Jan. 17, McGregor ISD held a school board meeting where it went into closed session to "discuss the employment of the Head Football Coach/Athletic Director," according to the minutes from the meeting.
After the meeting's closed session, Superintendent James Lenamon recommended that McGregor ISD's legal counsel should investigate issues within the athletic department.
The motion passed unanimously.
Thrash's attorney told Channel 6 that his client is looking forward to meeting with the investigators on the matter.
Channel 6 made several attempts to contact Superintendent Lenamon, but the calls were not returned.
Thrash was hired as McGregor's head coach and AD in March 2017. Before coaching the Bulldogs, he was an assistant at Colleyville Heritage.
In 2017, the Bulldogs went 6-5 and lost in the bi-district round. McGregor missed the playoffs in 2018 with a 4-6 record.
