CHINA SPRING, Texas — The China Spring Cougars have a new head softball coach, and softball fans in Central Texas will recognize her name.
Lindsey Cargill will be taking over the Cougars' softball program after spending last season as an assistant coach at Robinson High School.
Cargill is a graduate of Robinson High. She went on to play softball at Baylor where she was a four-year letterwinner under coach Glenn Moore from 2014 to 2017. She was Baylor's ninth All-American.
She helped lead the Lady Bears to the 2017 Women's College World Series. During her time at Baylor she broke the program's career hits (253) and single-season batting average records (.430).
She was a starter in the outfield for her first three years and moved to third base for her senior season.
Cargill was a volunteer assistant coach for the Lady Bears in 2017.
This will be her first head coaching job.
