TEMPLE, Texas — During his 33 years leading the Temple College men's basketball team, Kirby Johnson has seen a lot points scored on the court.
In just the second game of Johnson's final season as head coach, he reached a milestone few college basketball coaches ever see.
The Leopards were facing off against Navarro College at the TC Pavillion Nov. 5.
The teams were tied at 66 when R.J. Mason brought the ball up the floor to sink a three and give Johnson his 100,000th point at Temple College.
Mason's shot also gave the Leopards a lead they would hold onto through the rest of their 98-90 win over the Bulldogs.
The Leopards are 7-0 this season as they get ready to face Strength 'N Motion Thursday night at home.
A win Thursday would bring Johnson his 699th win at Temple College.
Johnson will also be coaching his 1,000th Leopards game Tuesday night against Tribulation Prep.
