WACO, Texas — The La Vega Pirates dominated quick and early to head to state for the first time since 2019 with a 62-35 win over Wimberley in the 4A D2 semifinals Friday night.
Wimberley jumped on the board first but La Vega found quick answers and went on a 28 unanswered points run.
The Pirates led 35-21 at the half and did not look back after.
The Pirates will be competing for their first state championship title since 2018.
La Vega will take on the winner of Brock vs Carthage on Friday Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. from the Cowboys' AT&T stadium in Arlington.
