WACO, Texas — Head Coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Football program are bringing in the well-experienced Gary Patterson as a senior-level strategic consultant, according to SicEm365.
Patterson, who served as the head coach of the TCU Horned Frogs from 2000 to 2021, will hopefully bring some veteran insight to Waco, utilizing his decades of coaching experience to improve the program.
During his time at TCU, Patterson led the Horned Frogs to AP Top 10 finishes in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
In 2021, Patterson resigned after being notified that he would not be returning for the 2022 season. His departure from the Horned Frogs program was the second-longest tenure as a head coach behind Iowa's Kirk Ferentz.
According to SicEm365, this hire is essential for Aranda as he will be calling defensive plays alongside Defensive Coordinator Matt Powledge in the 2024 season.
Prior to this new role as a consultant, Patterson served as a defensive analyst at the University of Texas in 2022.
