Former Baylor TE Drake Dabney announces commitment to TCU

The former Bear standout recorded 552 receiving yards and five touchdowns during the 2023 season.

WACO, Texas β€” A former Baylor football standout is taking his talents to TCU. On Saturday via social media, Drake Dabney officially announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs spending four seasons with the Bears, totaling 65 receptions for 873 yards and eight touchdowns.

Dabney was one bright spot of a disappointing 3-9 year for Baylor, setting a program record for single-season receiving yards by a tight end with 552 and five touchdowns in 2023.

Many may be wondering ... why the move to one of Baylor's biggest rivals? First-Team All-Big 12 tight end, Jared Wiley, has announced his declaration for the NFL Draft and it seems that starting tight end spot is now up for grabs.

Dabney becomes the sixth offensive addition for the Horned Frogs and eighth addition through the transfer portal so far this offseason. With the addition of Dabney, the Frogs are looking for a stronger season after landing at 5-7 overall, just one year after playing for a National Championship.
