Safety concerns leads to cancellation of Crusaders vs. JMU this weekend

"Safety concerns" and "lack of availability" lead to cancellation of Saturday's UMBH football game.

BELTON, Texas — Saturday's scheduled football game between the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and John Melvin University has been canceled.

UMHB was set to host the Millers but announced the game's cancellation on Tuesday, citing "safety concerns" and "lack of availability."

"UMHB will return to action on Saturday, October 5th in the American Southwest Conference opener against East Texas Baptist University in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Crusader Stadium," a news release said.

John Melvin is 0-4 on the season and only in their second overall season. They are coming off of a 55-14 loss against Westgate Christian.

The Crusaders are 2-1 on the season and coming off of a 35-17 win over No. 3 ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.

UMBH will begin ASC action when they host East Texas Baptist next Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.
