Oil spill cleanup costs Robinson City thousands

ROBINSON, Texas — Authorities in Robinson responded to an oil leak/spill incident on the afternoon of Thursday, June 6, prompting a significant cleanup effort and use of city funds.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Robinson Police Department and Fire Department were called to the 1200 Block of Sun Valley Blvd., located between the Pilot and Southeastern Freight, after reports of an oil spill in the southbound lane. 

The spill, connected to a leak from a vehicle, needed immediate action to prevent environmental contamination and ensure public safety.

Officials stated that the spill's magnitude and the remaining oil on the road needed professional intervention.

According to reports, the vehicle responsible for the spill is believed to be a late-model 90’s Ford dually truck, characterized by a pea-colored, two-toned exterior. It is suspected that the truck may have been transporting scrap metal or vehicles at the time of the incident.
