"It makes it more interesting, right?" | House divided between the Aggies and the Longhorns

The Rosenburg family was always comprised of longtime Texas fans until their youngest daughter decided to go to A&M.

AUSTIN, Texas — For the last 13 years, Aggie and Longhorn fans have not had much interaction. They still considered themselves rivals, but just did not have to worry about seeing one another on their schedules.

Most people see fans of their rivals out and about. Yet for the Rosenburg family, they are all under the same roof.

"It's a fun rivalry," said Sydney Rosenburg, 2022 Texas A&M alumna and youngest daughter of the family. "I mean, the family feud thing is definitely fun. It makes it more interesting. Right?"

It's something different and not something this family was used to.

Mother Debbie Rosenburg graduated from Texas and explained that she didn't own "one piece of maroon clothing" and now she has some.

Debbie and her husband Ben met at the University of Texas in an accounting class their sophomore year. They reconnected after college and now have been married for 27 years. They even included a piece of their alma mater on their wedding day.

"We turned around after they announced the husband, he played the Eyes at the, the, the fight song, 'Eyes of Texas' when he walked out," said Ben Rosenburg, UT graduate and father.

The Rosenburg family has been season ticket holders for 25 years and has raised their kids in burnt orange. When Sydney chose to go to A&M, she shifted the dynamic.

"It's funny because when I went to A&M dad always said I can root for A&M as long as we don't play each other and that was always the rule," Sydney said.

And now that will all change on Saturday. But over the years Ben and Debbie have embraced their rebellious daughter's Aggie spirit.

From adding some maroon into their wardrobe to taking an interest in learning the history of the Aggies' famous traditions, they have supported her fully.

Ben said, "I said [to Sydney], if you're gonna be an Aggie go all in and, she did."

They both just never thought they'd see the day that their teams would square off on the field once again.

"We don't know how we're gonna act," said Ben. "We're gonna have to have some safe words and things we won't say to each other. We're not gonna saw horns. No, we're not gonna do that."

With the renewal of the rivalry, it will bring new memories for the Rosenburg family, and ones that were not expected. But it will give the fans of the winning team bragging rights for the next 365 days.
