CAMERON, Texas --- The Cameron Yoemen have been without a head football coach and Athletic Director since Rick Rhoades left for Gregory Portland HS earlier this month.
The search for his replacement didn't take too long and the Yoemen didn't have to go far to find their next leader.
The Cameron ISD school board held a special meeting tonight and unanimously approved the promotion of Tommy Brashear as the new head football coach and Athletic Director at Yoe High School.
Brashear is no stranger to Cameron. He graduated from Yoe in 1992 and joined the coaching staff in 2004 as the head baseball coach, he then went on to be the head basketball coach for seven seasons and he was named defensive coordinator in 2011.
On Tuesday, after 12 seasons after joining the staff he finally got the promotion he's always wanted.
"Its like a dream come true. It's great to be a Yoemen. I'm from Cameron, I'm a hometown boy. and this is like a dream come true. I couldn't in my wildest dreams imagine this happening. Well I could imagine it happening, but that it's actually really happening is pretty amazing, pretty awesome," Cameron Yoe head coach Tommy Brashear said.
