LIVE BLOG | Baylor falls to Georgia 26-14 in the 2020 Sugar Bowl

No. 8 Baylor is going for its first 12-win season against the Georgia Bulldogs.

NEW ORLEANS — FINAL: Baylor falls to Georgia 26-14.

With 3:01 left in the fourth quarter, Baylor takes its final timeout. Georgia has 4th & 8 at the Baylor 48.

Brewer is up on his feet with help. He's carted off the field with a towel over his head.

End of the 3rd: No. 5 Georgia 26, No. 7 Baylor 14. Bears have 3rd & 3 at the UGA 48.

Charlie Brewer runs in from a yard out for the touchdown. Baylor trails 26-14 with 4:10 left in the third quarter.  

With 4:15 left in the third quarter, Baylor calls a timeout, leaving only one remaining for the Bears.

Charlie Brewer fumbles the football, but his teammate falls on it. It's 3rd and goal at the 1-yard line.  

Zamir White runs in from 13 yards out to give extend the Georgia lead, 26-7.

Georgia catches Baylor on the fake field goal and the Bulldogs pick up the first down.

Baylor's Chris Miller is down on the field and has to be escorted off.

As Baylor goes for it on the fourth down, Brewer gets sacked and fumbles the ball, which is recovered by Georgia.  

Bears take over needing 12 points to tie the game.

Massive stop by Baylor's defense on the drive. Georgia will have to punt.  

The Bears come out of the half and score a touchdown on their opening drive. Brewer finds Mims several times on the drive, including in the endzone to put BU on the board. With 12:14 left in the third quarter, the score is 19-7, Georgia.

AT THE HALF: Georgia 19, Baylor 0.

Bears will get the ball to start the third quarter. The S-E-C chants start inside the Superdome.

With 0:47 left in the first half,  Georgia calls a timeout. Baylor faces 3rd & 9.

Fromm finds Matt Landers from 16 yards out to give Georgia a 19-0 lead. The 2-point conversion is no good.  

George Pickens is having a MONSTER game so far. That's 10 catches for 163 yards and a touchdown.  

4:43 left in the second: Baylor punts. During the possession, Matt Rhule was irate with the officiating crew for what he felt should have been a DPI flag against Georgia on a pass to Tyquan Thornton. Dawgs take over at their 29-yeard line.  

Brewer's pass is complete to Hasty for a first down. A holding penalty by Baylor brings it back.

8:08 left in the second quarter and Georgia still leads 13 to 0. 

With 8:13 left in the second quarter, Georgia calls a timeout. Baylor makes the third-down stop, Blankenship was out here prior to the whistle for a 31-yard field goal.

Georgia connects on a 31-yard field goal. Bulldogs lead 13-0.

Charlie Brewer is 7 of 14 for 43 yards and one interception.

Baylor struggles on offense and a personal foul penalty. Georgia should get great field position.

Fromm finds Pickens from 27 yards out for the touchdown. Georgia leads 10-0.  

At the end of the first quarter, Georgia leads 3 to 0.  Total Yards: Georgia 73, Baylor 53.

Georgia's 24-yard field goal is good. Bulldogs strike first as they lead 3-0.  

Meanwhile, school pride was evident at the watch party at McLane Stadium. 

Stop by Baylor's defense on 3rd & 1.

Georgia runs a flea-flicker for a 46-yard play. Bulldogs are in the red zone.

Georgia declines and the Bears will have to punt.  

Denzel Mims is shaken up on the play resulting in a near interception for Georgia. 

With 5:02 left in the first quarter, Georgia's center hikes the ball over Jake Fromm's head earning the team a loss of 19 yards on the play. Baylor has the ball at the 31-yard line.

With 6:45 left in the first quarter, Charlie Brewer's pass is intercepted after the receiver couldn't bring it in. Georgia will take over on their 26-yard line.

A flag is thrown on the play. Pass interference by Georgia. It's a huge decision for Baylor because it's a 15-yard penalty and a first down.

Big catch by RJ Sneed for a Baylor first down.  

Another big stop by the Baylor defense. Georgia goes three and out.  Arnold returns it to Baylor's 45-yard line.  

Chris Miller delivers a huge hit which results in a loss of a yard for Georgia.

Power punts and Georgia will take over at their own 18-yard line. Bulldogs could only muster 15 total yards on their first drive.

Brewer finds Ebner but he's a yard short of the first down. Baylor will punt.

A fair catch was made by Grayland Arnold as Baylor goes to work at their own 17-yard line. Charlie Brewer will see his first action since being knocked out in the first quarter of the Big 12 Championship game.

Baylor defense flexed its muscle early in the first quarter, forcing Georgia to punt.

 Baylor makes its first Sugar Bowl appearance since 1957!

 

Flowers were placed in the press box and spot was reserved to honor Lousiana sports reporter Carley Mccord who was killed in a plane crash.

The Baylor Club at McLane Stadium is holding a watch party for fans.

Those attending the Sugar Bowl watch party will enjoy game food. More than 400 Baylor fans are expected to root on Baylor at McLane Stadium.

No. 8 Baylor is going for its first 12-win season when it plays fifth-ranked Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. 

Baylor was a 1-11 team just three seasons ago. Georgia has won at least 11 games in each of the past three seasons and is back in the Sugar Bowl for a second straight year. 

For the Bulldogs, the Sugar Bowl has been a consolation prize after losing the SEC Championship game two seasons running. But Georgia players say they want to send seniors out as winners this time after last year's Sugar Bowl loss to Texas.
