WACO, Texas — Six current and three former members of Baylor University's track and field team are gearing up to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials, set to take place at Hayward Field from June 21-30.
The roster includes Alexis Brown, De'montray Callis, Laurenz Colbert, Molly Haywood, Tiriah Kelley, Annamaria Kostarellis, KC Lightfoot, Alencia Lentz, and Maggie Montoya.
They are hoping to secure spots on Team USA for the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris, joining Baylor's head coach Michael Ford, who was recently appointed as the men's sprints and hurdles coach for Team USA.
To secure a spot at the Olympics, athletes need to finish among the top three in their events at the trials. Meeting the Olympic Trials standards, established by USA Track and Field, is mandatory for participation.
In cases where the top three finishers lack the Olympic standard, USATF may select additional athletes from the Trials until three with the right standard are identified.
Baylor has a history in producing Olympians, boasting a total of 13 track and field representatives. Notable recent alumni include Trayvon Bromell, KC Lightfoot, and Wil London, who represented Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Viewers can catch the U.S. Olympic Trials action live on NBC, Peacock, and USA channels. For detailed schedules, broadcast times, ticketing, and qualifying standards, interested viewers are encouraged to visit the event's official website.
