BELTON, Texas — Business is booming for Texas RV parks ahead of the total solar eclipse.
At Gather Campground in Belton, droves of people are coming in from all around the country to see the once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.
"We've had people come from Florida, Oklahoma, California," owner, Garrett Weber-Gale, said. "We have people here from Massachusetts and Michigan all over the place. There's someone who drove in from Arizona yesterday in just one straight shot and got here last night."
It's this campground that's one of the best places to be for the eclipse.
"We're brand new, started February 1," Weber-Gale added. "A lot of folks made reservations for the eclipse a year ago. We've gotten a lot of reservations for the eclipse in the past month."
Eleanor Foerste is just one visitor who is staying at the campground.
"In an RV park, you have a place to park," Foerste said.
She's from north Florida. Foerste and her husband Jay planned for an adventure to visit family in their home on wheels.
"When I realized the eclipse was only a week away from our visit, I thought, can we stay later and Jay said yes, so then it was a matter of trying to find a place to stay," Foerste said. "It was kind of serendipity or a God thing when we ended up in the area."
They ultimately landed on Gather Campground right off Interstate-35.
"We're having breakfast for people, champagne toast during the eclipse, we're providing glasses for everyone and we're going to have lawn games out here," Weber-Gale told 6 News.
Now while Foerste is no eclipse chaser, she loves the planet and is excited to see the event.
"The fact that the next total eclipse won't be here 20 plus years," Foerste said. "I am praying that I'm still on the planet then and get a chance to see it in the area."
