TEMPLE, Texas — Central Texas is gearing up for the highly anticipated total solar eclipse on April 8, and many local cities and businesses are making big plans for the big event.
For Central Texans still planning out their Eclipse Day itineraries, the Robinson Family Farm has invited the community to their own event, the 2024 Eclipse Fest!
On April 8, 2024, the farm will open its gates for a day "filled with wonder, excitement and the sheer beauty of a total solar eclipse", the farm announced.
Running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eclipse Fest will feature a host of activities, from live music, local food trucks and of course a view of the eclipse itself.
According to NASA, totality of the eclipse, or when the moon is completely covering the sun, is expected to be around the time of 1:30-1:40 p.m. in Central Texas. Totality will only last a few minutes, so be sure not to miss the rare celestial spectacle!
In addition to an unobscured view of the eclipse, as touted by the farm, Eclipse Fest will also feature live music to add a "melodic soundtrack to the celestial symphony".
Guests will be able to enjoy beer and wine from local breweries and wineries, as well as food from a lineup of food trucks, said the farm, from "savory treats to sweet temptations".
The event will also reportedly feature entertainment and activities for both children and adults alike.
Not only will Eclipse Fest be a chance to view a rare astronomical phenomenon, it will also help to raise money for a good cause, said the farm.
A portion of the proceeds of Eclipse Fest will go towards the local Ronald McDonald House, which helps to provide a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill or injured children who must travel to the area for medical treatment.
