WACO, Texas — The Eclipse Over Texas event in Waco was one of the best places to be for the total solar eclipse.
There was some fear that cloudy skies would put a damper on the eclipse, but the clouds parted just in time.
"When I just looked up and saw the moon in front of the sun, and like I have my glasses off, it was super cool," Peter Davis, an 8-year-old from the Woodlands, said after viewing the phenomenon. "It was super crazy. It was amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes."
It was truly an experience people will never forget.
"It's so transformative that yep, we go to the edges of the world," Kyle Adler, eclipse chaser said.
Different languages and cultures all joined together in one place. Wesley Carter and his family came in from Australia. It was a trip that was around 12,600 miles. Carter has a YouTube channel about science and space. The solar eclipse was a check off their bucket list.
"This is my first time ever seeing an eclipse," Carter said.
As many didn't know what to expect exactly, Adler knew how life-changing this experience would be for many. He is from California and has seen five so far.
"It's like seeing different pieces of paintings throughout the centuries," Adler explained. "All beautiful, but very different."
He says Waco was the best place to be and he's thankful people could enjoy the once in a lifetime event.
"I think the fact that we're humans all together from all over the world, experiencing that together," Adler said. "It helps us stay grounded and realize this is just our little place in the world universe and we're part of something bigger than ourselves."
