Coryell County residents asked to let Sheriff's Office know about eclipse gatherings

CCSO said knowing where gatherings will be will make it easier for them to assist with potential emergencies.

CORYELL COUNTY, Texas — Are you hosting a party or get-together for April 8's total solar eclipse? The Coryell County Sheriff's Office wants to know.

The Sheriff's Office is asking residents to inform them of large gatherings so that they can help better plan for where people will be during the eclipse, which will make it easier for them to respond in case of emergency.

Because Gatesville, and much of Central Texas, is a prime place to view the eclipse, the Coryell County Sheriff's Office said it is aware that many residents will allow camping on their land.

Anyone who is planning to host a group of more than 25 people on their property is asked to call and let the Sheriff's Office dispatch know so that they will be better able to stage deputies and resources.

Residents can contact dispatch at 254-865-5911 ext 530 or 531, or by email at CCSOdispatch@coryellsheriff.com.

The Sheriff's Office said they want everyone to enjoy the eclipse safely.
