FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center administrative offices and clinics will consolidate services on April 8, the day of the total solar eclipse, announced the medical center on April 4.
The main hospital, Thomas Moore Health Clinic and emergency department pharmacies will reportedly remain open.
The Killeen, Copperas Cove, Russell Collier, West Killeen, Harker Heights Community Based Medical Homes and the hospital's pediatric clinic will coordinate care at the Family Medicine Residency Clinic on the first floor of the main hospital at 590 Medical Center Road in Fort Cavazos.
Monroe, Bennett, Troop Medical Clinic 14 and the Yoakum-Defrenn Army Heliport Medical Home (formerly TMC 12) Soldier Centered Health Clinics will reportedly consolidate care at the Thomas Moore Health Clinic, located on the corner of 58th St. and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue building 2245.
According to the medical center, emergency, inpatient care, surgeries, GI and pulmonary procedures and labor and delivery services will not be affected by the change.
All dental clinics will reportedly consolidate for sick call care only at the Fairbank Dental Clinic at 2012 E. Legends Way, building 9440.
The Outpatient Mental/Behavioral Health clinics will consolidate care at the Multidisciplinary Clinic on the third floor of the main hospital.
The Medical Center asks those who have appointments scheduled on eclipse day and are not planning to attend to cancel or reschedule as soon as possible by calling Patient Appointing Services at (254) 288-8888 or through the Patient Portal at patientportal.mhsgenesis.health.mil.
Those planning to keep their appointments are recommended to give themselves extra time due to expected heavy traffic.
