Police: Terror attack at Taylor Swift concert in Austria foiled, 2 arrested

Police said one suspect pledged his allegiance to ISIS and had a "focus... on the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna," NBC News reported.

AUSTRIA, — Austrian authorities arrested two men on Wednesday for reportedly planning terror attacks in Vienna, Austria, including an upcoming Taylor Swift concert.

Austrian police said the main suspect is a 19-year-old Austrian citizen who was arrested "under strong suspicion of terrorism," according to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung. Police said he pledged his allegiance to ISIS and had a "focus... on the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna," NBC News reported.

When he was arrested, he had chemical substances in his possession, NBC News added.

Both the 19-year-old and the other suspect were arrested in Ternitz, a town south of Vienna. Police said both of the men were radicalized by the Internet, NBC News reported.

Swift is scheduled to perform to sold-out concerts in Vienna from Thursday to Saturday. "Since a danger cannot be ruled out at the three concerts, the police have increased their [safety] measures, federal ministry spokesperson Patrick Maierhofer said in an emailed statement.

UPDATE: Since the publishing of this article, Swift canceled all of her Vienna concerts.
