WACO, Texas — .A Waco doctor was arrested Thursday after he drunkenly beat a woman at her home, police said.
Dr. Daniel Smith III, 47, of Waco is charged with aggravated assault family violence after a woman reported that on Feb. 5, he beat her up, kicked her in the face, broke one of her teeth and chipped another, according to the Woodway Public Safety Department Facebook page
The woman reported that Smith repeatedly kicked her in the chest and stomach, which caused significant bruising, officials said.
It was not immediately known what led to the assault or the relationship between Smith and the victim.
Smith was taken to McLennan County Jail where he awaits bond.
Smith is a licensed physician specializing in pathology and cytopathology, according to the Texas Medical Board website.
