TEMPLE, Texas — Patients across Central Texas are raising questions about Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBSTX) and Baylor Scott and White's current negotiations.
People claim there are posts online that say Blue Cross Blue Shield is not renewing their contract with the medical center.
6 News viewer Colleen Trevino reached out to our verify team about whether or not Sep. 30 is the last day Blue Cross Blue Shield customers can see doctors at Baylor Scott and White.

No, negotiations are not ending at this time as both organizations are working to reach a new agreement before Oct. 1, 2024.
WHAT WE FOUND
In a statement, BCBSTX said "Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is in active negotiations with Baylor Scott and White. The current contracts have been extended to Oct. 1, 2024."
They added that their goal is to reach an agreement that will continue to give members access to Baylor Scott and White doctors and hospitals at fair prices.
Baylor Scott and White said "Currently, patients with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) health insurance plans have in-network coverage with our providers and facilities, and we are working to reach a new agreement before October 1, 2024, to keep BCBSTX plan holders in-network."
The current extension is a temporary extension for contracts that were originally set to expire on July 1.
