WACO, Texas — A driver of a semi-trailer died in a fiery crash Thursday morning at a CEFCO gas station in Waco, according to the Waco Police Department.
The driver of the semi-trailer, carrying flat screen TV's was identified Tuesday as 41-year-old, Gabriel Leyva of San Juan, Texas.
The Waco Police Department was called around 1:40 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said Leyva exited the South Jack Kultgen Expressway and crashed into a pole at the CEFCO gas station on South 18th Street. The truck caught fire after hitting a gas pump.
Officials said the gas pump is not what started the fire.
Another car was damaged during the crash but no one was hurt, according to officials.
A nearby hotel was evacuated for a period of time.
One employee was inside the CEFCO convenience store at the time of the crash, according to officials. The employee was not injured.
A hazmat team was called in to clean up
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
