TEXAS, USA — H-E-B owned Favor Delivery can now deliver to more Texans in new areas around the state as the service announced its expansion into 75 new Texas markets.
Favor doubled its delivery services in Texas, according to a press release from H-E-B. The expansion was in response to the increased demand in delivery services set off by the coronavirus.
“With Texans relying on delivery now more than ever, it is our duty to support more of our communities across the state, as quickly as possible,” Jag Bath, Favor CEO and H-E-B chief digital officer, said in the release. “H-E-B and Favor joined forces in 2018 to better serve our Texas customers and communities together, and we remain committed to doing everything we can for our state during this crisis.”
With the expansion, H-E-B & Favor's Senior Support program will be available to seniors from every H-E-B, Central Market and Joe V's store in Texas. Both H-E-B and Favor launched the program in late March as a way for seniors to buy groceries without having to leave their homes during the pandemic.
Since launching the Senior Support Program, Favor has also introduced an easy ordering and delivery website for seniors and customers in general to order groceries. Seniors can also order items through a dedicated phone line that takes orders from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. all week.
The two also started a Senior Support Fund with all contributions going toward seniors' orders to ensure they have access to low-cost home delivery during the crisis, H-E-B indicated in the release.
“We’re excited that we can now reach more Texas seniors with this service, which is one of the safest, healthiest solutions in the marketplace,” Martin Otto, H-E-B chief operating officer said. “Since launching this program, the response from seniors and the community has been overwhelming — in just three weeks, we have delivered over 67,000 essential grocery orders to seniors across Texas.”
Seniors, and all customers, will have their groceries placed at their doorstep without having to come into contact with their delivery person.
H-E-B and Favor said they have waived delivery and services fees for the first 30 days of the program "to keep this service affordable." Orders do include a $10 tip that goes entirely to the Favor Runner, who personally shops for and delivers items.
Seniors can place orders via phone by calling the Senior Support Line at 1-833-397-0080 seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Anyone can donate to the Senior Support Fund by visiting Favor's website.
