WACO, Texas — Waco and its neighboring cities are uniting for the Inaugural Mayoral Challenge for the Salvation Army Waco's Red Kettle Program. Mayor Dillon Meek, has extended a friendly challenge to several local mayors.
The goal of the challenge is to see who can raise the most funds for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Program. A breakfast event is scheduled for Nov. 17 at 7:30 a.m., where participating mayors will receive guidance on how to run a successful fundraising campaigns.
Mayor Jim Hering from McGregor and Mayor David Gonzales from Beverly Hills are joining the cause. Mayor Hering plans to ring the bell locally in McGregor and get the help of locals. Mayor Gonzales, is also ready to ring the Red Kettle Bells in Beverly Hills. The organizers are now seeking a few more mayors to round out the roster.
Red Kettle stations will be in different locations, including popular shopping centers, community events, and local businesses. Each mayor will set their fundraising goals and encourage their communities to contribute. Donations can be made in person at these Red Kettle Locations.
