WACO, Texas — Following his triumphant success in the March 2024 Primaries, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara sat down for an exclusive one-on-one interview to discuss his plans for his next possible term.
With over a decade of service spanning three terms, Sheriff McNamara expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving as the county's top law enforcement officer.
"It's been a great career," he said, reflecting on his family's longstanding legacy in law enforcement dating back to 1902.
McNamara secured the Republican nomination after McLennan County voters reaffirmed their trust in him during the recent election.
"I was just very honored," he said, acknowledging the public's appreciation for the work his department has done.
McNamara faced questions about endorsements, notably from the Waco Police Association, which declined to endorse him for the second consecutive election.
"I have ideas, but you probably should ask them," he said when pressed for insights into their decision.
Setting his sights on the future, Sheriff McNamara outlined his goals for his next possible term, emphasizing a continued focus on combating narcotics, human trafficking, and addressing cold cases and child molestations.
"We're going to fight crime on every front," he affirmed, underscoring his commitment to ensuring the safety of McLennan County residents.
When asked about retirement plans, McNamara said, "I will quit running at age 95," revealing his steadfast dedication to his role. "I'm not very old. You say you got a long way. I got a long way to go," he added with a chuckle.
