TEMPLE, Texas — After months of campaigns and debates Election Day has finally arrived. Across the nation and in Central Texas, voters are heading to the polls to cast their ballots in what is shaping up to be one of the most closely-watched elections in recent memory.
This year’s race is between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Both candidates campaigned across the country.
In Central Texas, voters have primarily focused on economic issues, local policies, and statewide topics that will directly affect their communities. The state has already seen record-breaking early voting turnout, indicating high engagement and anticipation for the results.
"I just want to see whoever wins serve the people," said Paul Estrada, a Temple resident and voter. “It's about our electoral vote deciding who will lead us for the next four years, and that person needs to represent us all — not just one side or the other."
In addition to the national race, many voters also expressed their concerns about the impact of local and state elections on their daily lives. With critical races for governor, state legislature, and regional offices on the ballot, many felt their decisions were as important as the presidential election.
