Election Day 2024 has seen significant voter turnout across the country and the state of Texas.
As of 7:30 p.m., Bell County saw over 28,620 voters show up to the polls to cast their ballot on Nov. 5, according to county spokesman James Stafford.
Stafford said Central Counting Judges were adjudicating write-in votes and the Bell County Elections Office were processing the last results of early voting as of 7:30 p.m. He said that while polls closed at 7, many voting locations were still serving people who were in line to vote before the deadline.
The final total for Bell County showed a total number of posted votes at 131,120, according to Stafford. It's a 54.6% voter turnout for the election, but also ranks atop the highest vote total in county history, surpassing the 2020 and 2016 elections.
At the start of voting day, over 500 voters showed up to cast their ballots. That number rose to over 1,500 within half an hour, and continued to swell to 3,000 at 8 a.m. and 5,000 by 9 a.m.
As of just before 10 a.m., over 7,800 voters have checked in to vote at one of the 42 available voting centers in Bell County, rising to 10,900 around 11 a.m. and further elevating to over 13,800 shortly after 12:30 p.m.
