Bell County voters set single day early voting record in county history

More than 8,000 people checked into voting locations in Bell County by Monday afternoon, passing records set in 2020 and 2016.

BELL COUNTY, Texas — It took voters in Bell County less than eight hours to set a new record for participation in a single day of early voting in Bell County history on Monday.

This week marked the official start of early voting for the Nov. 5 election. At 4:15 p.m., over 8,000 people had checked into voting locations across Bell County. The county has eight official sites for people to submit their vote. 

This year's total passes the previous highs of submitted votes in a single day of early voting set in 2020 and 2016. The highest single day of early voting in 2020 was Saturday, Oct. 17 with 7,393 voters. The highest count for any day of early voting in 2016 was the last day, which was Friday, Nov. 4 with 6,925 voters.

More information regarding the significant count of early voters will be released once ballot officials can provide an accurate number. 

Early voting will continue to operate through Friday this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. During the final week of early voting, Monday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Nov. 1, Vote centers will return to the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule.
