CONROE, Texas — Following his escape during transport on Sunday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stated there were murder arrest warrants out for Cedric Marks.
Early in the afternoon, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stated the warrants stemmed from Bell County. Channel 6 called the Bell County Sheriff's Department which said the case was a Temple police case.
In reaching out to Temple P.D., Channel 6 was told the department had "no releasable information" and to contact the D.A.'s office.
Channel 6 reached out to the Bell County District Attorney but never heard back.
Later, Jonathan Scott, Jenna Scott's father, told Channel 6 that Sunday's press conference was the first time he'd heard of a warrant for the death of his daughter and her friend Michael Swearingin.
Following a second press conference Sunday, Lt. Scott Spencer with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department told Channel 6's Andrew Moore the warrants for murder were from the Texas Rangers.
Marks escaped custody around 7:20 a.m. Sunday during transport from Grand Rapids, Michigan, back to Bell County on a warrant from Temple for burglary of a habitation. Following a nine-hour manhunt, authorities said they found him in a 55-gallon trash can outside a nearby house and he surrendered without incident when found.
An investigation into his escape and eventual re-capture is underway.
