NAVARRO COUNTY, Texas — The Navarro County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Wednesday it shut down a large illegal marijuana growing operation, removing thousands of pot plants from the fields.

The sheriff's office shared photos of the plants found near the city of Angus, which is just south of Corsicana.

Police said there were three separate marijuana fields surrounded by thick woods. Some of the plants were 3-feet tall, the post said. Deputies found an abandoned campsite, irrigation hoses, fertilizer, drying racks and other tools used to grow marijuana.

Deputies said they're still processing the scene for evidence, and then the field will likely be destroyed.

No arrests have been announced yet.
