Milam County judge sentences cattle thief to 15 years in prison

CAMERON, Texas – A Milam County judge sentenced a man to prison for stealing over a 100 head of cattle in May 2013 from an El Paso rancher.

William James Crenan, 59, of Burlington, Texas, to 15 years in prison, according to a press release.

The rancher was running cattle on Crenan’s pasture in northern Milam County when the cattle were stolen.

Crenan was also ordered to pay $575,922 in restitution to the rancher.

The case was handled by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Rangers Marvin Wills and Hal Dumas in cooperation with the Milam County Sheriff’s Office

“TSCRA and I would like to thank Judge John Youngblood, John Redington and authorities with the Milam County Sheriff’s office for working closely with us throughout this investigation,” Wills said. “Thanks to these efforts, another cattle thief has been handed a strong sentence and justice prevailed for this victim.”
