WACO, Texas — The City of Waco says three water treatment plant employees have been taken to the hospital after emergency responders were made aware of one person being found unconscious due to increased levels of carbon monoxide.

The city says the incident was reported at approximately 7:24 a.m. from the Mount Carmel Water Treatment Plant. Waco Fire and the HazMat team were able to figure out what caused the person to lose consciousness but are investigating what caused the carbon monoxide levels to increase.

Outside of the building, carbon monoxide levels were reported as normal.

The city also says there is "no known immediate danger to the public and no evidence that the city's water supply has been compromised" but are continuing to monitor the situation.

The employees that were affected received immediate medical attention and were taken to the nearest local hospital to be checked out further. The city says no further information into the status of the employees is available as of publish time.

Updates to this story will be provided as they become available.
