WACO, Texas — A suspect is in custody following a police chase that ended in a crash near North Valley Mills Drive and Lake Air Drive in Waco on Sunday afternoon, according to the Waco Police Department.

Officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 1800 block of North Valley Mills Drive shortly after 1 p.m. that day.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver, identified as Jarvis Richardson, reportedly drove toward the officers and an officer fired back a round, but didn't hit anyone, police said.

The suspect then fled, prompting a pursuit. Police said the chase came to an end when Jarvis began driving recklessly and ended up crashing at the intersection of North Valley Mills Drive and Lake Air Drive. Jarvis was then arrested.

Jarvis faces charges of evading arrest and failure to stop and render aid. No major injuries were reported during the incident.

The Waco Police Department has not released further details about the case but assured the public there is no ongoing threat.
