WACO, Texas — Waco ISD is offering a program this summer to make sure kids are well fed when they are out of school.
The district is offering free summer meals as part of its annual summer food service program. They have been doing this for 25 years and it provides free breakfast and lunch to kids.
Waco ISD receives federal funding from the USDA based on the number of meals served. In 2018, they served 64,930 meals for breakfast and 118,245 lunches.
All kids between the ages one through 18 are eligible to be a part of this program. There are no income requirements, no registration, and no paperwork.
The summer meals program will take place in several locations in Waco. Some of the locations include Waco ISD elementary, middle, and high schools. Others include a few YMCA locations and the Boys and Girls Club.
