The Waco Transit System asked for the public's input Thursday night during a public workshop focused on finding more efficient transit options in the city. The event was held at the Waco Multipurpose Center on Elm Street.

Currently, all the city's bus routes go through downtown, making trips from one side of the city to the other more than an hour and a half. Passengers have complained about how long travel takes.

The Waco Transit System has hired a consulting team to look at several rapid transit concepts.

"This is a very important step in that process of understanding where are people going, what times are they going and what time of travel times really work with their schedules," Metropolitan Planning Organization Director Chris Evilia said.

Evilia said one of the post important steps will be finding funding, which won't be considered until the end of the study.
