WACO, Texas — Need a ride to the polls on Election Day? Waco Transit System has you covered.
On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Waco Transit System will offer free fixed-route bus rides to registered voters going to cast their ballots.
The free rides will be offered both to and from the polls, said the City, with bus fares waived for passengers who present their valid voter registration card, identification card or "I Voted" sticker to the bus driver.
The City says the initiative is a way for them to "help bridge the gap" locally for those who do not have access to personal transportation, and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to vote.
Riders are encouraged to determine in advance which bus routes will get them closest to their polling location. Route maps are available online at waco-texas.com/transit and at the Waco Transit bus terminal located at 301 S. 8th St.
According to the Transit System, routes will operate from 5:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 7. The City said all fixed-route buses can be tracked in real-time by downloading the free "Ride Systems" app and selecting "Waco Transit" as the agency.
