TEMPLE, Texas — Before you head out to vote on Super Tuesday, there is voter preparedness advice that the Office of Texas Secretary of State wants you to know.
"Always keep in mind what you're wearing. If it looks like something that can be deemed as campaigning or political you might be asked to not wear it into the polling location," said Alicia Pierce with the Office of Texas Secretary of State.
Before you head out the door to vote, you are also advised to make sure you have the proper valid identification. These forms of ID include a Texas Driver License, Texas Election Identification Certificate, Texas Handgun License, U.S. Citizenship Certificate, U.S. Military Identification Card, or a U.S. Passport.
If you don't have one of these items, you have the option to fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and bring it along with a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, or a paycheck.
"When you go to the polls you can't take your cell phone in and use it. So you might want to take some notes about what candidate you specifically want to vote for and have that information for you ready in an analog written down on paper sort of way," said Pierce.
These is advice from the Office of Secretary of State for voters who plan to vote later in the day.
"If for some reason you get to the poll by 7 p.m. and you're in line and there is a very long line, you are entitled to cast your ballot if you are there by 7 p.m.," said Pierce.
