TEMPLE, Texas — Veterans Day is an annual chance to honor veterans of the United States Armed Forces and there are numerous events you can attend in Central Texas to pay your respects from Thursday, Nov. 9 though Saturday, Nov. 11.

6 News' list of Veterans Day events includes things for those who want to honor veterans and places veterans can go to get a free or reduced meal in Waco, Killeen and more!

Waco

Texas State Technical College Veterans Day Ceremony

The public is welcome to gather at the Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center on Airline Drive in Waco to hear words from Texas Rep. Hugh Shine. Shine, along with the La Vega High School Navy Junior ROTC, will honor veterans during this ceremony. 

Time & Date: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10

Location:  TSTC’s Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center on Airline Drive in Waco

Presentation of the Congressional Veterans Commendation

Congressman Pete Sessions will host this event to honor local recipients of the Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC), which is a program designed to honor the wartime sacrifices and community involvement of these veterans. There will be six recipients of the CVC in attendance at the ceremony. 

Time & Date: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11

Location: Heritage Plaza Parking Lot at 311 Austin Avenue in Waco

Bubba's 33 Offering a Free Meal to Veterans 

All veterans - active, retired or former U.S. military members are welcome to come and choose one of six entrees being offered! These include a Classic Cheeseburger, Bubba's Bacon Burger, Chicken Tender Salad and more. Proof of service is required. 

Time & Date: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11

Killeen

Veterans Lead Community Service Project: Restoring Killeen Firehouse

The Mission Continues is asking the community for help on its Veterans Day project to restore the Central Bell Firehouse! Local veterans will be leading the charge, along with help from volunteer firefighters. Everyone will be helping to add new paint, new exterior lighting and more. 

Time & Date: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Location: Central Bell Firehouse at 3000 FM 1670 in Belton

Harker Heights

Harker Heights Veterans Day Ceremony 

The public is welcome to join City of Harker Heights and its Veterans Council to honor veterans at the Harker Heights Activity Center. Representatives from several veteran organizations will be in attendance and this is a great opportunity to show appreciation for local veterans. 

Time & Date: 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9

Location: Harker Heights Activity Center at 400 Indian Trail

Veterans Day at The Heights Pizzeria and Drafthouse

Veterans are welcome to stop by all day for free giant slices of chees and pepperoni pizza as well as $3.99 draft beers with proof of I.D.

Time & Date: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11
