The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday it would relocate retail services at the Burlington Post Office from its previous location at 14 Church Ave. to a new, yet-to-be-determined nearby location.

USPS said it anticipates providing the same services at the new location.

Services at the Burlington Post Office had previously been suspended on an emergency basis due to safety concerns with the building, officials said.

The Postal Service temporarily relocated operations to the Rosebud Post Office at 206 N 5th St. in Rosebud and will remain there until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

In February, a public meeting was held in the Rosebud Post Office Lobby to share information and receive comments about the potential moving of the Burlington Main Post Office. The Postal Service said it would consider all comments received before March 3 before making a final decision. But now, that final decision has been made.

In a press release, the post office stated the following:

“While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Burlington community, the USPS properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.”
