Water boil notice issued for Troy

Due to pressure being lost from a main break, the city is under a water boil notice.

TROY, Texas — The City of Troy is under a boil water notice after a a six-inch water main broke in Troy on Trojan Road near Troy High School on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The water main broke around 10 p.m. City officials do not know when water will be restored.

Crews responded to the break and closed the valves to maintain pressure outside of the affected area. The city placed the area under a boil water notice as a precaution.

The impacted areas include:

  • General part of N. of Goates Road to West Interstate 35 , which includes Troy ISD’s Mays Elementary
  • Mays Middle School
  • Troy High School
  • Turtle Creek Subdivision
  • Aikman Drive
  • Wendler Lane, N. Waco Road
  • Ramirez Drive
  • Royal Oaks Subdivision
  • All businesses and homes along the I-35 Service Road

To ensure safety, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

Trojan Road between W. Main Street and the entrance to the east parking lot of Troy High School is also closed because of damage caused by the leak. City officials say the road is "unsafe." Drivers are advised to find alternative routes to access that area of Troy High School and the Troy ISD Administration building.

City officials will update Troy residents once the boil water notice is lifted.
