Who killed Mary? Investigation into Oklahoma cold case could have ties to Georgetown

The 25-year-old woman's body was found repeatedly stabbed in her bedroom by her daughters.

GEORGETOWN, Texas — New information in a cold case from Oklahoma reveals it could have ties to Central Texas.

Mary Morgan Pewitt was 25 years old when she was found stabbed to death on June 4, 1988, at her home in Comanche.

Her two daughters spent the night with their grandmother, who dropped them off at Pewitt's home the following morning. The girls ran to the door and knocked, but there was no answer.

The girls then tried getting into the house through their mother's bedroom window, which is when they found her body.

"It's something that will never get out of my mind," Amber Benson, Mary's daughter said. "I can still see it like I did at 6 years old."

Pewitt was repeatedly stabbed, but investigators have never been able to find her killer.

Now authorities in Oklahoma have learned Pewitt had connections to Georgetown and Royse City, which is northeast of Dallas. They hope someone in the area may know what happened to Pewitt or who could have been responsible.
