HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas — Texas Skateland released a statement regarding the July 4 fire that saw the business take a total loss.
"The Harker Heights Fire Department has determined the cause of the fire is underdetermined," they said. "The family spoke to the fire department and if the fire department cannot 100% identify the exact location where the fire started it is ruled undetermined. Our insurance fire inspectors have determined it was electrical and it started behind the snack bar counter."
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on July 4, the Harker Heights Fire Department (HHFD) got a call about a fire that broke out at the skating rink, located at 205 Cox Dr. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out of the front entrance.
They added that the fire was determined to not be caused by arson or anything the family did and the plan is to rebuild the skating rink.
"Our overall goal is to rebuild the skating rink for our community so families have a safe place to come and have fun," they added.
The skating rink owner's daughter Natalie Kirshner, created a GoFundMe to help the local business. You can donate to the GoFundMe here.
