TEMPLE, Texas — Fourth-generation, Temple ISD teacher Jordan Beeman is hoping to win the America's Favorite Teacher contest where one educator will be gifted $25,000, a trip to Hawaii and a spotlight in Reader's Digest magazine.

Beeman, who attended Temple ISD as a student, has been teaching at the school district for seven years and is currently at Thornton Elementary.

Beeman says teaching students knowing they are sitting in the same seats she sat in as a kid means so much to her. She hopes to make each and every one of them feel comfortable in her classroom and to let them know that someone loves them.

If she wins, Beeman states, "I would use the $25,000 to purchase supplies for my classroom, including creating a safe space area. I would also create a hygiene/essential goods room for my school to provide food and any needed products to all students' needs."

Beeman says her most memorable teaching experience occurred when she witnessed a student's "light bulb" moment.  She says a shy second grader blossomed before her eyes as she began engaging in conversations with her friends and eventually brought up her grade-level performance.
