TEMPLE, Texas — Pull out the lights and make your house shine bright. It's that time of year when houses glow with holiday spirit, and the City of Temple encourages participation.
For the third straight year, the City of Temple is hosting the Merry & Bright Lights Tour & Contest as announced on Wednesday. The city hopes this provides an opportunity for families to enjoy a safe and fun holiday season activity.
Participants have until Dec. 6 to sign up and must be 18 or older and residents of Temple. The online voting window is from Dec. 7 to Dec. 16.
The winner of the contest will receive an award presented by Mayor Tom Davis at the City Council meeting on Dec. 19 and will be featured on the City of Temple's website and Facebook page.
An interactive digital map, which is not yet online, will be available on the City of Temple's website until Jan. 1, 2025.
How to participate
Residents wishing to participate and enter the contest must decorate their homes and submit a photo along with a description of the featured decorations and address.
Businesses can participate in the online interactive map, but will not be able to enter the contest.
A map of all contest entries will be released on Saturday, Dec. 7 with a link for residents to vote for their favorite decorated home.
Participants must pick up a yard sign to label their home as a stop, which will also include the voting link.
The online map, which allows voters to virtually tour the festive decorations, will remain accessible to the public throughout December.
