Temple first responders hold parade for Teachers Appreciation Week

To show how much they care, Temple first responders showed up to Temple Charter Academy with sirens blaring and flashing lights for a parade of appreciation.

TEMPLE, Texas — It's Teachers Appreciation Week, and now more than ever teachers across our nation need a pat on the back for all the hard work and dedication it takes to educate our kids.

Due to coronavirus, life changed in the blink of an eye and caused teachers and administrators to come up with creative, virtual ways to teach students.

So, to show how much they care, Temple first responders showed up to Temple Charter Academy with sirens blaring and flashing lights for a parade of appreciation.

The parade was organized by the school's two principals who said these educators deserve it.

“They're meeting with their students as often as they can on Zoom, on Facebook Live and just so they can still have that interaction so that every need is met. It just looks a little different," Temple Charter School Elementary Principal Devera Shipp said.

"We're all in this situation together, so it is important that we all help each other out and we'll get through it,” Temple Police Media Relations Spokesman Chris Christoff said.

After the parade, teachers were given a gift and to-go brunch plate. May 5 is also known as Nationals Teachers Day.
